The Aesthetics of Resistance
June, 2006

Workshop by the Chilean artist Alfredo Jaar

How does one make art when the world is in such a state? How does one make art out of information that most of us would rather ignore? How does one inscribe an artistic practice in a landscape over-saturated by consumption? How does one make visible the invisible?

This intensive 12 hours workshop explored methods through which artistic practice can approach contemporary realities in new and creative ways. They explored new strategies of presentation and re-presentation in the hope of creating new models of public interventions and resistance.
