Cova Macías Project

Postproduction of work by Cova Macías produced with Mataró school children.
The Cova Macías Project which arose from the Municipal Cultural Trust Visual Arts Programme, has invited the artist Cova Macías (born in Oviedo, Spain, in 1976) to produce a video with volunteer students from different secondary schools throughout the city. The project has been presented to schools by the artist, accompanied by the visualization of his work (also coinciding with the Can Palauet “Continuous Session” exhibition from 24th February to 9th April) and youngsters have been invited to appear in the video and to actively collaborate in the different stages of the project (research, field work, scripting and filming). Can Xalant is giving logistics support to the project and also providing video post-production facilities. The end result will be presented at the Germans Arenas Art Centre.

Music&Insólit

Avant-guard, up-and-coming artists and tension coordinated by Kike Bela (The Ultrasonic Association). Production activities, exhibition and analysis about avant-guard music.

Going public 06 Atlante Mediterráneo
A project directed by Martí Peran

Going Public 06 Atlante Mediterraneo is the 3rd edition of the Going Public annual projects, organised by aMAZElab (Claudia Zanfi, Milan). Previous events have focused on the relationship between art and territory using productions, workshops, seminars and publications. The protagonist of this year’s event is the Mediterranean corridor, from Istanbul to Barcelona.

As a work in progress, developed in different, connected locations (Istanbul, Nicosia, Beirut, Cairo, Venice, Modena and Barcelona), Going Public 06 will involve carrying out specific research about each place. The research will end in October 2006 when all the research groups will get together in Modena to turn their experience into a joint exhibition and publication.

During this process, and when the research which is being carried out at each location under the coordination of a member of the team has been finished, different events (February 2006: Cyprus Day, Rebuilding Geographies; September 2006: taking part in the Manifesta 6 school programme, Nicosia…) will bring together material which will be discussed by the group in October.

It is anticipated that materials will be published in November 2006 in Modena and Bologna.

We would also like to present them in Barcelona in December 2006 as part of an event at Can Xalant.

Hiper Pop
